Top five Shale oil rich nations in the world

Shale oil is a unique hydrocarbon produced by shale rocks that are very rare in the world. It is produced by the process of pyrolysis, thermal dissolution and hydrogenation. The process then converts kerogen- a mixture of organic chemical compounds abundantly found in sedimentary rocks- into synthetic oil and gas which is then used as a fuel. It is also upgraded to meet refinery needs as well.  .
It was first used in Switzerland and Austria in early 1300s. The historical concept about shale oil is that the Ute Indians of the Great Basin revealed Spanish explorers about a rock that burns. Its been seven centuries that humans are consuming Shale oil. Not long ago, researchers started debating on the commercial scale exploitation of shale oil as a reliable energy source.
Here, we will talk about the top five nations who are enriched by the recoverable shale oil and reserves.
1.       Indonesia:
Discovered in 1885, Indonesia wears the crown for being the first oil producer in South East Asia . It entered organisation of petroleum exporting countries (OPEC) in 1962, in 2009, Indonesia became the only country with significant declines in shale oil production. Indonesian govt. began two shale gas study projects, consequently in May, it was announced that the production will begin in 2018.
2.       Canada:
Canada is the sixth largest shale oil producer and the third largest gas producer in the world. Prime location is the East Coast of Canada; Albert oil shale has 100 l/t oil with the potential oil recovery as well. Other important oil location is the McMurray Formation. The location also consists of a mixture of sand, crude bitumen, clay minerals, water and silica. It is the only reservoir of crude bitumen in the world.
3.       Mexico
Mexico, a Central American nation is not a part of OPEC but among the largest sources of U.S oil imports. The supergiant oil field in Mexico naming,”Cantarell” peaked in 2004 producing around 2.14 million barrels per day. From that day on, Mexico has seen a steady decline in oil production.
4.       Venezuela
As per the records of organisation of petroleum exporting countries (OPEC), the republic of Venezuela contains around 297.5 barrels of shale oil and 197 tcf of natural gas reserves. The Orinoco Heavy Oil Belt is the only largest crude oil reserve, expanded on the area of fifty five thousand kilometres while the Orinoco Oil Sands is the second largest oil field reserve in the world.
5.       Libya
Libya comes on the 9th rank when we are talking about the largest shale oil reserves in the world. Libya is also the owner of Africa’s hydrocarbon stocks of about forty seven billion barrels. The catastrophe took place in 2011 sent oil production only of about twenty eight percent of its 2010 levels. Libya is a place of Silurian hot shale which is the most crucial hydrocarbon source rock in Arabia and North Africa.

Set yourself apart by wiping your CV clean of buzzwords!

Your Curriculum Vitae is perhaps the most important document you will ever write or produce. It is an opportunity for you to define your professional identity and set yourself apart from the ever-growing competition. But often, CVs are filled with shiny overused (and unwanted) words that do nothing to help you get hired and actually sometimes hurt job potential of the candidate. If you are really curious to get the attention of a managing hiring, make sure yours  stands out as an original and logical document.
In 2012, leading professional networking site published a list of top overused buzzwords. LinkedIn surveyed more than 180 million professionals around the globe and identified creative, analytical, and effective as the top three overused professional buzzwords used by people to describe themselves to potential employers.
Here’s the list of LinkedIn’s Top 8 Overused Professional Buzzwords in 2012:
1.       Creative
2.       Motivated
3.       Effective
4.       Analytical
5.       Experimental
6.       Multinational
7.       Specialised
8.       Responsible
The common mistake jobseekers do when writing a CV is to attempt to make it look and sound formal. Frequently, this means filling it with words straight out of a business book. Consider the hiring manager going through dozens (or even hundreds in some cases) of applications in a day and reading the same jargon. They can’t help but go on an autopilot mode and glide through all the CVs even faster, ignoring verbatim.
If you wish to avoid buzzwords in your future CVs and catch the attention of the hiring manager, here is our piece of advice that can help you recognise overused or clichéd words:
·         Avoid self describing words such as visionary, innovative, unique, and creative, etc. – Because there are just few people who are capable of holding these titles – Steve Jobs, Henry Ford, Shawn Fanning, and Warren Buffet – not quite common!
·         Avoid words that are hard to comprehend or confusing. For example: Out-of-the-box thinking, 360-degree, and change agent, etc.
·         Do not use jargon when writing down accomplishments. Avoid words similar to knowledge of, experience with, familiar with, value added, responsibilities include, leverage, and utilise, etc.
·         Avoid writing qualification (MBA, CPA, CPS, MACS, or GP, etc.) right beside your name on the top. Instead, put your qualification related details in the body of your CV.
·         Let us know if you know other buzzwords that should be avoided!

How to select a firm for Oil and Gas recruitment?

In a recent report, Oil and Gas: Rising Fortunes 2, Lloyds Banking Group reported that 83% companies in the sector expect to see more business. This expected growth would translate to over 34,000 new jobs when applied to the entire sector and related businesses. However, many companies are concerned skills shortages could limit their growth and spark a "war for talent", according to the study. Specialised recruitment agencies and staffing consultants are perhaps the best bet for businesses to meet concerning talent demands.
A lot of companies are turning to these recruitment firms to find the right skilled and qualified professionals. But again, searching for the right recruitment firm/consultant is not easy. There are an overwhelming number of recruitment agencies out there, from small/local firms to big names.  Before you approve a firm to recruit on your behalf, it is important to know whether they are up to the job and that your specific requirements will be fulfilled.
Here are some questions you must ask before selecting a firm for oil and gas recruitment to avoid errors and attract top talent in the sector:
1.       Should it not work, is there a guarantee?
2.       How long have you been in this sector?
3.       What is the minimum and maximum time for an average task?
4.       What are the implications should you fail to adhere to the timeline?
5.       How consultants are assigned to a task?
6.       What methods will be used to find potential candidates?
7.       How will you ensure that we have the best/right talent?
8.       Will you conduct in-person interviews?
9.       At what stage will you carry out the reference check?
10.   Do you have an evidence to demonstrate your level of success in the sector?
